London Photographer Charles Sturge makes the move from Canon to Nikon

My big move from Canon to Nikon

After wrapping up a packed quarter in late 2025, I decided to make a professional move that might seem minor at first glance but is already transforming how I work. If you’re a brand, business, or marketing team I collaborate with, this change matters to you too.

But first, welcome to 2026. I hope the year has started with clarity and momentum for you.

Now, here’s the big update.
I’ve officially switched camera systems from Canon to Nikon. Specifically, I’ve moved to the Nikon Z8, one of the most powerful mirrorless cameras for commercial photography available today.

Why the Switch?

As a professional photographer, I don’t chase gear trends. I tend to hold back from early tech and prefer to wait until the tools are fully developed. That’s why I waited until now to dive into the mirrorless world.

But the Nikon Z8 changed everything for me.

Thanks to Nikon Professional and Rob Macneice, I had the chance to test the Z8 along with two top-tier Nikkor S lenses and a battery grip. The results were stunning.

What Makes the Nikon Z8 So Good?

This camera is more than an upgrade. It is a leap forward.

Whether I am capturing corporate headshots, bold brand visuals, or live-action commercial scenes, the Z8 performs with precision and reliability.

What This Means for My Clients

Upgrading to the Nikon Z8 and premium Nikkor lenses is a significant investment, just shy of £10,000. But the value shows up in every image.

The sharpness is unmatched. The detail is richer. The focus is lightning fast. And the experience I can offer clients, whether you’re looking to rebrand, launch a campaign, or refresh your team portraits, is now even stronger.

If you’re planning something visual in 2026, from a brand refresh to a content series, I’d love to connect.

Let’s make your brand look as sharp as the gear behind the lens!
