At dawn, when we arrived, it was cool but by the time we'd scaled to the top the temperature has risen dramatically and we found ourselves short of water. Sossuvlei, Western Namibia, massive dunes cover an area of 32,000 sq km. Sossuvlei is an ephemeral pan surrounded by these dunes and is a favourite amongst tourists who visit the area.
