About Charles

Charles Sturge established himself as a Corporate Photographer in 1995, and since then, photography and film have taken him around the world. In 2005, he served as the Black Eyed Peas official European Tour photographer and has also achieved Top 6 status in the Sunday Times Ian Parry Scholarship for photojournalism, and won Corporate Photographer of the Year five times.
He undertook major assignments such as documentary stills for EPL Pictures at Abbey Road Recording Studios, which led him to Hollywood and resulted in coverage in many mainstream publications. Another notable assignment involved spending five months on expedition and covering tourism in Namibia, resulting in a feature in The Times and a private viewing at the Namibian High Commission.
A three-month assignment saw him journey from Bolivia to Buenos Aires on a reed boat with the legendary explorer Colonel John Blashford Snell. During this semi-military voyage, Charles both photographed and filmed, resulting in several publications including The Telegraph and Geographical Magazine.
His documentary on this expedition was broadcast by National Geographic as part of a larger adventure series produced by Endemol, which later led to him becoming associate producer for Raw Material, playing a significant role in creating their brand and onboarding sponsors.
The GSM Association approached him to travel through the world’s emerging economies to document the mobile phone revolution, with a mandate to find people whose lives had been changed by the introduction of technology, to produce advertorials, and to create an image library.
Seattle-based production company OnRequest Images commissioned Charles to produce sample images illustrating Adobe Lightroom, a program designed for the world’s professional photographers.
Having shifted his focus from photojournalism to family, Charles is now one of the UK's top corporate photographers, enjoying the opportunity to work with some truly inspiring clients.

“I am the office manager of a FTSE100 company managing 120000sq ft of office space and over 800 staff. I employed Charles a couple of years back primarily to take corporate head shots for marketing, intranet and communications purposes but also to photograph special events too. I needed someone engaging, charming and professional having inherited a photographer whose interpersonal skills weren’t great and whose finished product was good but poorly delivered.

Having used a number of ‘try before you buy’ photographers I still wasn’t satisfied I had found the right fit and then I found Charles Sturge. Charles’s product is first class and his delivery is 21st century cutting-edge. We are always looking at ways to operate smartly and Charles provided a remote online solution before and after each shoot that has proved to be very popular and very light for the customer; it really is very impressive.

The shoot of course is the real reason we have complete and utter faith in him and his team. He has managed to get staff in front of the camera who have refused to get in front of the camera before. His customer service skills are exceptional allowing him to execute his craft impeccably. He is approachable and engaging which in turn gives the customer confidence and assurance which is reflected in the end-product.

I believe that I have found a pragmatic and unpretentious blue ribbon photographer who matches our own values and standards. I couldn’t think of working with anyone else.”
